Pediatric Endocrinology is a broad medical specialty that involves the care of multiple conditions affecting growth and development.

Are not just small people. Children’s bodies react differently than adult bodies to illness and treatments.

Children need treatment designed and administered for their special and unique needs.

Dr. Granados provides diagnosis, counseling, and ongoing treatment of all endocrine problems from infancy through adolescence and always in cooperation with your primary care physician, who remains fully involved in all aspects of your child’s treatment.

Hormones

Are chemicals produced by glands that affect how other organs in the body work.

Endocrinology is the science that studies these glands and effects of the hormones.

what exactly is Pediatric Endocrinology?

If a child has problems with growth, puberty, diabetes, or other disorders related to hormones and the glands that produce them, they may be referred to a Pediatric Endocrinologist.

 

Endocrine glands, such as the pituitary or thyroid, work by releasing the hormones they produce into the bloodstream.

Specialized training in pediatric conditions as they relate to growth and development is essential.  

 

Pediatric Endocrinologist diagnose, treat, and manage hormonal disorders at all stages of childhood- from infancy through adolescence.

 

Commonly treated conditions include:

  • Diabetes Mellitus (Type I and Type II)
  • Growth Problems (Short Stature)
  • Early or delayed puberty
  • Enlarged thyroid gland (Goiter)
  • Underactive or overactive thyroid
